FOREWORD
The author of the e-book “Ivanka Ivanova’s Songs” – part two is the Pazardzhik folklore singer Ivanka Ivanova Pitrek. In July of 2012, the professional singer published another e-book of hers: “Folklore Dedication.”
which was the author’s first effort to acquaint those who love the Bulgarian Folklore Song with the techniques of breathing and singing for folklore songs, with the features of the Bulgarian folklore districts, custom clothing, instruments… with the specific Bulgarian measures and rhythms.
The e-book “Ivanka Ivanova’s Songs – Part One” followed, in early February, 2013.

Of life songs
Bi shto bi lyato

Summer end
It was summer for short and then
it ended.
The colorful
Fall came,
All the young girls
loved it
And all the brides hated it from
their hearts
As their mother in law will
call for them
To get back home where
their children, their sons are crying.
Boryat se Gyuro i Gero
Boryat se Gyuro i Gero
dva brata, dva pobratima
na vrah na Stara planina
pri sivo stado golyamo.
Gyuro na Gero dumashe:
“Gero le pobratime le,
ya dosta sme se borili
neshto shte kahar da stane!”
Dorde sa tova dumale,
dumale, ne izdumale
vlazhko se nozhche otplesna
ubode Gero v sartseto.
Gero na Gyuro dumashe:
“Ya idi Gyuro da kazhesh
na moyta Kata sestrichka,
ala ya hitrom izlazhi!
Ya hayde Kato, ya hayde
che ti se bratets zazhenil
na vrah na Stara planina
seloto mu e morava!
Nevyasta mu e mogila
cherni mu orli svatove
cherni mu gargi devere
kyurek mu kumets pobashtim!”
Gjuro and Gero are fighting
Gjuro and Gero are fighting,
two brothers, two sworn brothers
at the summit of Balkan mountain
By their big, grey flock.
Gjuro told Gero:
“Gero le, my sworn brother,
Let’s stop fighting
Something bad will happen.
While they were talking,
while they were talking,
the vlach knife slipped
and stabbed Gero in the hart.
Gero told Gjuro:
“Go Gero,
tell my sister Kata,
But don’t tell her the truth!
Come Kato, come ,
It is your brother’s wedding
At the summit of the Balkan mountain!
His village is a meadow!
His bride is a mound!
Black eagles are guests,
black eagles and black crows!
Shovel is his best man!

A young lass was sweeping a yard

And found a crooked feather
And found a crooked feather
crooked feather of a peacock
She swept it, took it
and stuck it on the left side

on the left side in her blond hair.
She took two coppers.
two coppers from the water place
so she went for a water
at the haidouk well.
There she found a young and playful lad,
a young and playful lad, crazy madcap
He got her crooked feather
and threw it in the well
The lass had a loud voice,
A loud voice, a loud voice
She yelled as loud as she could:
“You, my nine brothers!
Block the roads
fence the field with thorns
Catch the young and playful lad,
a young and playful lad, crazy madcap! “
