The novel tells the story of the baron of Sigognac during the reign of Louis XIII of France, a nobleman who decides to abandon his castle to join a theatrical troupe out of love for a young actress. As a result of numerous adventures and a spiritual transformation, the protagonist comes to a happy ending with the love of his life.
