'The Three Brothers; Complete' is a family drama novel written by Mrs. Oliphant. The story unfolds by introducing us to Mr. Renton, the patriarch of the family who is described as being a man who values hard work and energy above all else. He has deviated from family tradition by marrying a pretty but useless wife and has been neglectful of the best interests of his sons, allowing them to pursue leisurely or impractical careers rather than following in the family tradition of business or industry. Mrs. Westbury, Mr. Renton's sister, is critical of his choices and blames Mrs. Renton for their sons' unconventional careers. The problem that lies ahead is this: Mr. Renton is about to die.
