The Duke's Motto

Although the story is described as a melodrama, it is a work of prose and not a play. It is set in France at the time of Louis XIII and is a story of adventure and the persons who seek them. In his dedication, the author explains how he wrote this melodrama in English for the romantic actor, Lewis Waller.
