"Prison Life in Andersonville"

John Levi Maile's memoir of his time in the Andersonville Prison during the Civil War is a harrowing account of the conditions endured by Union prisoners in the Confederate camp. Maile's personal experience of the «breaking out of Providence Spring» is at the center of this memoir, as he recounts the miracle of its unsealing and the relief it brought to the prisoners.
