This is a personal narrative of the military experience of John Call Dalton, M.D., Surgeon U.S.V., during the American Civil War. The book describes Dalton's involvement with the Seventh Regiment and their march through New York City to Washington D.C. in response to President Lincoln's call for troops after the fall of Fort Sumter.
