This is a historical novel set in seventeenth-century Hanover. It revolves around the doomed romance between Philip Christoph von Königsmarck and Sophia Dorothea of Celle, the wife of the Elector of Hanover. Sophie marries Prince George Louis of Hanover at the age of sixteen. Both parties are not happy about the union.
