Arms and the Woman

'Arms and the Woman' is a romance novel written by Harold MacGrath. Written in first person, we follow the narrator, a young reporter named John Winthrop, who went to the opera with a woman that he is smitten with, Phyllis. She does not, unfortunately, share the same sentiment, for without much hesitation, she turns down John's proposal. Would John be able to win her affections, in the end?
