This novel tells the story of Mrs. Kettering. Mrs. Kettering had gone through her share of troubles in her youth. The late Mr. K. her husband was more respectable than romantic. For years they toiled and amassed, and old Kettering attended closely to business, though he never showed his books to his wife.
