The Town Traveller

"The Town Traveller" is a novel by the English novelist, George Gissing. Known more for works of social realism, this novel marked a departure from that style from Gissing, and incidentally was his biggest commercial success. After a period of financial struggle, Mr. Clover moves to Glasgow with his wife and after the birth of their firstborn daughter, suddenly goes missing. Though he occasionally sends letters and money home, he is nowhere to be seen.
