Emerson's Wife and Other Western Stories

This American author (1858 – 1939) grew up on farms in Kansas and Illinois and later became a journalist. She wrote several novels and short stories and there are 14 examples in this book. The first story starts with an extremely drunken Nick Ellerson waking up in a hotel room fully clothed, and, on desiring a drink, shooting the bell button in order to obtain one.
