"The Giant's Robe" is a novel by Thomas Anstey Guthrie, an English novelist and journalist who wrote his comic novels under the pseudonym F. Anstey. The book introduces Mark Ashburn, a shallow, weak man, a schoolteacher with high ambitions for a literary career. Yet, his writings are of little success. This lasts until his friend entrusts him with a manuscript before his departure to India. Mark can't stand the temptation, publishes the book as his own, and finally reaches success. Now, he has to pretend he is the author of the book he doesn't like and doesn't understand.
