Edmund James «Ted» Banfield was an author and naturalist in Queensland, Australia who was interested in a variety of topics having to do with the natural world. In this book, he produces a travelogue of sorts about his time in the tropics. North Queensland is characterized by its tropical climate, which allowed the author, and thus also his readers, to experience new and exotic flora, fauna, and ways of life.
