This work was published in 1865. Beresford Hope was a well-known political figure who wrote many articles about church matters in England and Ireland and America. In this work, he argues that the Church of England is not free from the time of 1833 when the Oxford or Tractarian Movement tried to establish more Roman Catholic practices within the Church of England.
