is another of my alphabetical stories written for shared reading.

Kind Dog has a special nose for smelling smells, so this story is about his hunt for a ‘good smell’ with his friends Ant and Bee. If a parent or older child reads the black words, then young children can join in the storytelling by calling out the words printed in red, which I have illustrated as they are introduced. I should like children to know that my favourite smell comes when rain first falls on hot ground.

One day Kind Dog said that he smelled a good smell!

Kind Dog told Ant and Bee that the smell was in the

air

CLEAN AIR CANNOT BE SEEN

Ant and Bee did not smell the smell.

Kind Dog said that he had a special nose for finding smells.

Kind Dog wanted to follow his nose and find the smell in the air .
